Find the Answer to Your

SMP Questions

What does the treatment cost?

Cost for treatment is dependent upon the amount of hair loss you currently have.  We have a pricing chart based on the Norwood scale for men and the Ludwig Scale for women that we use as a guide during consultation.  The average client we treat ranges from $2500-$3200.  Some treatments can be less and some can be more depending on factors such as scars, alopecia, simple hairline repair, touch ups, etc.  We will work with every clients situation.  We offer discounts and financing through United Medical, and we also take all major credit cards.  This is the best investment you will make in yourself, so remember you get what you pay for. Will anyone notice I had the treatment?

Scalp micropigmentation has become the #1 hair loss solution because of its natural and undetectable results. Most people, including family, can’t tell the difference from natural follicles and SMP follicles. Top Scalp Micro prides itself on the ability to accurately replicate each individual hair follicle to create a perfect match for each client.

How many treatments will I need?

To achieve the most natural results, Scalp micropigmentation should NEVER be considered a one treatment process. Most clients, on average, can expect between 2-3 sessions to complete their treatment depending on the extent of hair loss or scarring. Some clients may require a 4th treatment. These treatments are usually spaced about 10-20 days apart.

How long do the results last?

The results are permanent. After completion of your treatments a client should expect the strength of the color to last for many years. Over a longer term, a client will very gradually begin to notice slight lightening (not discolor) of the treatment. When this occurs they can undergo a brief “touch up” session to restore any fading and secure many more years of their style. Protecting the scalp from sun exposure with SPF50 or a hat will prolong the treatment from lightening.

Will this treatment work for women?

Yes. Scalp Micropigmentation is an excellent alternative to wigs, surgeries, or products that promise to thicken or re-grow your hair that never work. Scalp Micropigmentation cosmetically re-creates natural looking hair follicles on the scalp that add the look of density to thin hair. The results are immediate and you will leave from your 1st treatment with fuller looking hair and a renewed confidence.

Can the treatment change colors?

No. Scalp micropigmentation is a form of permanent cosmetics, but unlike some tattooing or permanent makeup, our pigment is designed to fall within the same color spectrum of short cut hair. The pigment contains no additional colorants or additives and will only lighten. It will not turn blue or green over an extended time.  We only use the highest quality pigments specific for SMP to give us long lasting, natural looking results.

Do I need to take time off for the treatments?

Scalp micropigmentation is non-invasive and requires no down time. In most cases, you will not need to take any extended time away from work, school, or other functions. After treatment it is common to notice slight redness on the scalp for 2-3 days post session. This redness subsides quickly and most clients return to work either right away or within a couple days. Clients are also allowed to wear hats, should they feel the need, as long as they are not too tight or abrasive.

What kind of hairline will I have?

If you are unsure of what style or type of hairline will work for you, our specialist will be there to help. With artistic experience on how to fit a hairline to your head shape and age, our specialist can help recommend what’s best. Over the course of your sessions you can also tweak and adjust the hairline for a perfect result.

Do I have to shave all my hair off?

Depending upon the pattern and extent of the thinning hair, some clients are able to maintain a longer length of hair. Scalp pigmentation can help thicken areas so that less of the scalp is seen showing through. However, if there is a strong pattern of hair loss or just not a lot of hair density left, the client is recommended to crop it shorter.

Can Scalp Micropigmentation hide my scars?

Yes! By replicating tiny hair follicles inside the scarring and blending the color around the scarring area, transplant and surgical scars can see massive improvement in concealment.

How bad is the pain?

For most of our clients, the pain is minimal and it’s consistently less painful than traditional tattoos. After your session, you won’t experience any further discomfort.

Can you have the treatment if you have gray hair?

Yes, those with gray hair can still benefit from the scalp micropigmentation procedure. First, most clients are recommended to cut their hair to a short buzzed length. When this is done, gray hair does not appear as gray because the hair root itself is darker. Hair only shows gray as it gets longer. Second, we use a gray-scale pigment that can be adjusted in shade to blend with lighter hair tones. We simply create a lighter dilution for blending into the existing gray hairs.

I have fair skin, will this work for me?

Yes! We are able to match the shade of our pigment to a wide range of skin tones. Whether you are caucasian, black, hispanic, asian, or pacific islander scalp micropigmentation can work for you.

What equipment is used for a Scalp Micropigmentation?

The equipment we use at Top Scalp Micro was specifically designed and built for SMP. There are many different brands and designs of equipment on the market but we spared no expense by choosing to use the best SMP designed Rotary hand-piece, a Medical grade digital power source, and the best micro sized needles to give us the most realistic hair follicle impressions.

Can I wear a hat after treatment?

Yes. The scalp may be a bit reddish for 2-3 days post session, so we recommend wearing a hat after treatment if you wish to conceal the redness.
